    Every country has a different culture and language. abroad many people find features in their host culture that they may find disturbing. in this situation we must be able to learn the characteristics of the culture so that there is no misunderstanding, for example from one party. Studying it we know that requires a process but it will make it easier for each of us to know or know the characteristics of a foreign culture. So, this can avoid the misunderstanding of the reaction when each person finds different cultural traits.

A. Culture
1. Definition of culture is a complex whole that includes knowledge, beliefs, arts, morals, laws, customs, and other capacities and habits acquired by humans as members of society. Culture can also be defined as ideas, customs, skills, arts, and tools that characterize a certain group of people in a cultural time period. It guides the behavior of people in the community and develops in family life and helps us know what we can do as individuals and what our responsibilities are as group members. From the point of view of contemporary cultural anthropologists, culture is characterized by the following four basic features:




1) Culture is a kind of social heritage, not biological heritage;
2) Culture is jointly owned by the whole community, not certain individuals;
3) Culture is a system of symbolic meaning in which language is one of the most important;
4) Culture is a unified system whose parts are inseparable which are closely related to one another. 

In general, culture can be divided into three categories:
- Material culture as a man-made product
- Socio-culture as a form of community social organization
- Ideological culture including community beliefs and values.



B. Language
according to Bill Adams, the definition of language is a system of individual psychological development in an inter-subjective context.

Language function
The main function of language is as a means of interacting with humans, a tool for thinking, and channeling the meaning of belief in society. Apart from being a means of communication and interaction, language also has an important meaning as a learning method in the scope of language itself. Language also functions as the identity of a tribe or nation because of its uniqueness. Because every tribe or nation must have a different language.

· Cultural and scientific development tools

To develop a culture in a country, language is needed. So that communication between individuals and groups can be achieved optimally.
